This will prompt for a distributor name and type. The name is a required field and it will be pre-filled with a default name like "Group-1 … n”. Modify the name as appropriate for the distribution. You can give a more meaningful name like "First Quarter Survey” etc, for easy reference later. Then select a distribution type for your survey. If you are going to send the generated Survey link to your end users using email, then select a "Web Link” type. If you are going to create a pop-up from your website, then select pop-up type. Click on "Next” to continue. On the next page you will be shown with a survey link in a text area. Optionally you can select an end date and time for this survey. In order to collect responses for your survey, first you should create a distributor. To create a distributor, click on the "Distributions” sub tab and click "Add New” button. This will prompt for a distributor name and type. The name is a required field and it will be pre-filled with a default name like "Group-1 … n”. Modify the name as appropriate for the distribution. You can give a more meaningful name like "Fourth Quarter Survey” etc, for easy reference later. If you are going to create a pop-up from your website, then select pop-up type. This will make sure your page will load first before the survey loads.
Note: pop-up type may not be the best option is the user has a pop-up blocker. So select this option with caution. Because of the pop-up blocker issues, to make sure the user actually sees the survey link, it is better to add a note about your survey on your page and put the link there so that the user can actually see it before clicking it. This gives a better chance to get responses.
- How do I set position of survey pop-up window?
To set popup window properties, append following attributes and its values to the popup url.
z_height Defines the height of the window in pixels. Percentage values don't work.
z_width Defines the width. Again, you'll have no joy with percentages.
z_left Supported by version 4 browsers and above, this sets how far removed the window appears from the left of the screen. In pixels.
z_top Partner to left, this pushes the window off the top of the screen.
z_resizable Set to true or false, this may allow the user to resize the window.
z_scrollbars Another Boolean value, this adds scrollbars to the new window. If your content may be longer then the dimensions you've specified, make sure this is set to yes.
z_toolbar Specifies whether the basic back/forward toolbar should be visible. If there are links to follow in your new page, set this to yes.
z_menubar Specifies whether the main toolbar (File, Edit, ...) is shown.
z_location Specifies whether the location toolbar (address bar) is shown.
z_status Specifies whether the new window can have a status bar. Best set to yes. For security reasons, Mozilla-based browsers always show the status bar.
z_directories Specifies whether the directories toolbar is shown (Links toolbar in IE).
z_fullscreen Internet Explorer-only Boolean attribute which may open the window in fullscreen. It's annoying — don't use it.
z_dependent Netscape 4-only attribute which makes the popup dependent on the status of the main window. If the main window is closed, the popup closes with it.
z_screenX & z_screenY Old Netscape attributes for defining the window's position on the page. Use left and top in their place.
